| Christi and Mark Goodman - Planting the Seeds |
"It all started with my Nana Rose," explains Mark Goodman. "She volunteered at the Rose Schnitzer Manor when I was a child. Later on, she lived there and I visited often. Finally, she passed on there. When I was asked to serve on the board of Cedar Sinai Park, I said yes instantly. That's how I got involved." Over the years, Mark has also served on the Board and on several committees of the OJCF.
Mark and Christi Goodman, and their extended families, are people who benefit from our community's institutions and support them generously. "Judaism is all about planting seeds and watching them grow," says Mark.
Mark's mother, Lila Goodman, helped found the beautiful Oregon Jewish Museum, providing for the preservation and display of our shared heritage as Jews in Oregon. She is also helping to instill a love of Judaism in young families as a funder of OJCF's PJ (Pajama) Library Program.
Christi Goodman loves serving on the board of the Oregon Jewish Museum and is also a volunteer fundraiser for Cedar Sinai Park. The family has shared in the magic of three generations of Goodmans who have gone to B'nai B'rith Camp and now they help send children who are less fortunate through scholarships.
"We want our daughters Morgan and Taylor to understand how important it is to help others," explains Christi. Both teens are involved in mitzvah work for Cedar Sinai Park and B'nai B'rith Camp. "We also support the OJCF Youth Foundation and hope our daughters will get involved," adds Mark.
Through their donor advised fund, the Mark and Christi Goodman Charitable Fund of the OJCF, they find it's easy to manage their giving and support those in need. With their grants to Cedar Sinai Park, Jewish Federation, the Oregon Jewish Museum, Oregon Hillel, and Temple Beth Israel, the Goodmans are generously planting the seeds for future generations.
